"My favorite celebration"

My favorite celebration of the year is "Aid Sghir" which means the "small celebration". We call it like that because there's also the "Aid Kbir" which is the "big celebration", and they're both religious celebrations. However this day comes after Ramadan which is a month on the muslim calendar , during this month people fast they don't have the right to eat or to drink until it is the time of the 5th prayer which is called "Al Maghreb" they also work just half a day. I really like this celebration because in this day all family members are gathered at my grandma's house and we have the first breakfast after this holy month. And then we start preparing a big lunch for all the family not to mention that we're a very large family. During the whole day we receive many guests who come each year to visit us.

I have a special memory about this celebration, because one year this celebration coincided with my birthday, so we celebrated two events in one day, it was absolutely amazing. Everybody wished a happy birthday and I've received a lot of presents. I spent the day having fun with my cousins and the rest of the family. By the end of the day they organised me a suprise party, and they invited all my friends it was the best birthday I've ever had!

  1. This holiday seems very interesting! We don't have anything like that here but I would be very interested to learn more about it. I love learning about different cultures from different places, and this holiday seems very cool! Thank you for sharing part of your culture with me!

  2. Ramadan seems like it takes a lot of dedication, i don't know if I could fast that long. My birthday also sometimes falls on a holiday, Presidents day. What is your favorite dish to eat after the fasting is over?

  6. That's super cool that your birthday was at the same time as the holiday! My birthday is two days after a big holiday in America, which is called Christmas. What's your favorite food for breakfast at your grandmother's?
